The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA 1 oz/ 30 mL Exfoliating Solution

The Ordinary presents a mild lactic acid superficial peeling solution. Lactic acid, an alpha hydroxyl acid, gently exfoliates the skin, promoting a bright, even tone and a smooth, soft texture. This 5% formulation provides very mild exfoliation, supported by a purified Tasmanian pepperberry that is known to reduce sensitivity often associated with exfoliation. For those seeking a stronger formula, a 10% option is also available.

The formula includes a studied Tasmanian pepperberry derivative to help minimize irritation commonly associated with acid use. This derivative, of plant origin, may vary in color seasonally, leading to potential color variation in the formula from time to time. It is important to note that lactic acid should not be used on sensitive, peeling, or compromised skin. Additional sun protection and other warnings are provided in the directions for use.

To apply, use once per day, ideally in the PM. It can be diluted with other treatments to reduce strength until the skin develops tolerance. Avoid contact with the eyes, and discontinue use and consult a physician if irritation persists. A sunburn alert is also included, as the product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase skin sensitivity to the sun. Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

The ingredients of this formula include aqua (water), lactic acid, glycerin, pentylene glycol, triethanolamine, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, Tasmannia lanceolata fruit/leaf extract, arginine, potassium citrate, acacia senegal gum, xanthan gum, trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate, PPG-26-buteth-26, ethyl 2,2-dimethylhydrocinnamal, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-hexanediol, and caprylyl glycol.
